The Addicts Wife
by Lila M. Richey
I know that all will pass with time
But the memories never fade away
It's true that love withstands the pain
And any heart can heal like mine.
Dead silence in the dark of night
Always warned me of a storm
Impending on the horizon
We'd lived this many times before.
In his eyes the dark clouds flashed
I heard his voice and thunder roared
My eyes then rained with tears of fear
Of what his tempest should bring.
Winds of anger rushed at me
Lightning struck my face
Hailing hatred pounded my heart
Banging the shutters to our love.
When the storm had finally gone
And the sky became fairly clear
Bright stars shone within his eyes
And made the dark seem light again.
